About the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions:

  • Applicants for the current season of auditions must be within the following ages: 20-30 years old for all voice types.  Your birth date must fall on or between August 1, 1977 and July 31, 1987 in order to be eligible to audition.

  • Applicants should demonstrate operatic potential and should have musical training and background.  Applicants must be able to sing in more than one language and show artistic aptitude.

  • Citizens of the United States of America and Canada are eligible to audition.  Foreign applicants must show proof of one year residence or proof of full time enrollment in a college or university in the United States or Canada.

  • District and Regional auditions require five arias in the original language and key.  Selections should demonstrate contrasting musical styles as well as languages.
     

  • Oratorio, musical theater, or zarauela are NOT permitted.
